In late March 2012, the Council for European Studies (CES) will conduct elections to replace two (2) members of its governing Executive Committee: James Cronin and Juan Diez Medrano. Both are due to complete their four-year terms at the end of the 2012 academic year and will step down as part of the regular elective process for CES governance.
Thus, the Council is calling for nominations for candidates to fill these soon-to-be-vacant posts. Both friends and members of the Council are welcome to submit nominations, but only CES members in good standing will be allowed to vote in the Executive Committee Elections in March. All nominees must have a demonstrated professional commitment to the study of Europe, and should be engaged in producing, funding, utilizing or advancing interdisciplinary academic knowledge of Europe. Institutional Membership Drive -
We need your help!
The Council for European Studies has launched a drive to increase the number of institutions in its Academic Consortium. If successful, the drive will widen the circle of eligibility for CES fellowships and grants, while also helping the Council to keep down conference registration fees that weigh heavily on individual members.
To this end, the Executive Committee urges and invites all CES members and friends to petition their universities and colleges to join the Council's Academic Consortium. A robust institutional membership is essential to our continuing efforts to expand support for the interdisciplinary study of Europe in these challenging times.
Want to know if your institution is a member? Review our list of current institutional members. Also, check out our brochure explaining the benefits of institutional membership.
